Oporto Sports client and former Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough gave an exclusive interview to Sky Sports News’ Paul Gilmour recently, speaking about his time as boss of the GAWA.
Baraclough had five-and-a-half years working with the Irish Football Association, firstly as boss of the under-21s, where he inspired his side to beat Spain and finish second in their qualifying group, despite being the bottom seeds.
Ian then went on to lead the senior team, beating Bosnia and Herzegovina before experiencing an agonising extra-time defeat to Slovakia in the Euro 2020 qualifying play-off final. In the subsequent World Cup qualifying campaign his side held Italy and Switzerland to creditable home draws, finishing behind them both in the group.
